54  Permissible donors

(1)ÌýÌýÌýÌý A donation received by a registered party must not be accepted by the party if—

(a)ÌýÌýÌýÌý the person by whom the donation would be made is not, at the time of its receipt by the party, a permissible donor; or

[(aa)ÌýÌýÌýÌý in the case of a donation of an amount exceeding £7,500, the party has not been given a declaration as required by section 54A; or]

[(aa)ÌýÌýÌýÌý any declaration required to be made in respect of the donation by section 54A or 54B has not been received by the party; or]

(b)ÌýÌýÌýÌý the party is (whether because the donation is given anonymously or by reason of any deception or concealment or otherwise) unable to ascertain the identity of that person [the person offering the donation].

(2)ÌýÌýÌýÌý For the purposes of this Part the following are permissible donors—

(a)ÌýÌýÌýÌý an individual registered in an electoral register [who is registered in an electoral register and (subject to subsection (2ZB)) satisfies the condition set out in subsection (2ZA)];

(b)ÌýÌýÌýÌý a company—

(i)ÌýÌýÌýÌý [registered under the Companies Act 2006], and

(ii)ÌýÌýÌýÌý incorporated within the United Kingdom
