STOP PRESS: From 31 October 2024, the Home Office has stopped issuing Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs), as part of the transition to a fully digital immigration system. From 1 January 2025 BRPs will no longer be valid, and persons with limited or indefinite leave to remain should arrange to be able to access their eVisa in order to travel back to the UK or to prove their immigration status for the purposes of employment or accessing services (although BRPs will still be able to be used for travel back until at least 25 March 2025 and for the purposes of an online right to work or rent check, where the person still has extant leave, for part of 2025). All existing holders of a BRP have been able to create a UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) account online since 6 August 2024, which will enable them to access their eVisa.
