Official List definition
What does Official List mean?
For the meaning of 'official list' see Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 s 74(1). The Official List is the list of publicly listed companies that is maintained by the FCA and therefore is expected to change from time to time. Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 s 103(1) and substituted by SI 2005/1433. The 'listing' refers to the official list as per the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 Pt VI (ss 72-103), and specifically, 74(5), 103(1) (as amended). Although the FCA may admit to the official list such securities and other matters as it considers appropriate, it may admit to the official list only such matters as allowed under Part VI of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, and the Treasury may by order provide that anything which falls within a description or category specified in the order may not be admitted to the official list.
