Maladministration definition
What does Maladministration mean?
Something that happened in connection with action taken by or on behalf of one of the authorities subject to investigation, being action taken in the exercise of administrative functions of that authority which caused injustice to a member of the public.
The characteristics of maladministration include bias, neglect, inattention, delay, incompetence, ineptitude, perversity, turpitude and arbitrariness. Maladministration is concerned with the manner in which the authority's decisions are reached and the manner in which they are or are not implemented; it has nothing to do with the nature, quality or reasonableness of the decision itself.
