We spoke to Jayne Gorman, an Internal Auditor and Legal Associate at ArvatoConnect, whose role primarily involves checking third party contracts, to find out how Lexis Create helps with her day-to-day work.
Significant time savings
Jayne has to check “a vast range of contracts that come in, from government framework contracts through to private sector contracts” as part of her day-to-day responsibilities. She says that Lexis Create provides her with significant support in terms of checking and adapting contracts - some of which are over 300 pages long - leading to significant time savings:
“In an average month... it's probably saving me about eight or nine days of work at least.”
Boosting confidence
Although Jayne has been working in her company's legal department for over eight years, she is still learning the ropes in some areas since taking on an expanded remit of work. She says that Lexis Create gives her a much-needed confidence boost when it comes to navigating some of her new duties, citing one clear example:
“I had a private sector contract that had a random piece of legislation in the middle of pricing, and it shouldn鈥檛 have been there at all - it was obviously a typing error. This was flagged by Lexis Create, and I was able to highlight it and suggest its removal because I didn't see its relevance.”

Invaluable cross-referencing feature
One of the features of Lexis Create is that it checks all cross-references within a document and returns results that allow these to be updated or deleted if necessary. Jayne finds this tool particularly helpful:
“What I鈥檓 absolutely thrilled with is the cross-reference feature. It has saved me so much time and trouble because I often have to check documents that don't include the correct hyperlinks. So to be able to just scroll through a mini screen to the main point saves massive amounts of time given the size of the contracts that I'm working with.”
Real time legal best practice
Jayne says that having real time access to Lexis Create whilst she is discussing a contract on Teams calls, or conducting other types of remote negotiations, provides her with additional confidence that she is following legal best practice. Furthermore, the product has helped her to learn some of the tips and tricks of contract optimisation:
“Lexis Create has taught me a lot by highlighting sections which contain a discrepancy or inaccuracy - even prompting small suggestions such as: ‘Are you sure you want to have an open bracket here?’ It makes a massive difference to my professionalism.”
