What impact can the legal profession have on the climate emergency and other sustainability issues?

While businesses and governments are crucial to ensuring that agreements made during the COP26 conference in Glasgow during November 2021 are put into action, the legal profession can have a considerable impact in relation to tackling climate change by guiding businesses in adopting environmental, social and governance policies.

Professor N. Craig Smith, the Chair in Ethics and Social Responsibility at INSEAD and Programme Director of the INSEAD’s impactvise Sustainability Programme for Legal Professionals, and Ron Soonieus, Director in Residence at INSEAD and Senior Advisor at BCG set out three ways in which lawyers can and should accelerate the sustainability transition in business.
