How are other in-house teams securing their pipeline of talent? At this session you will hear how BARBRI (global leaders in legal education), have built and secured their channel of junior talent and are using the new SQE route to qualification to help them.

Mary Bonsor, CEO of Flex Legal, will also share insights from the market on the increasing demand from junior lawyers for more flexible working and look at how you can help increase social mobility at the junior end of the market.

Victoria Cromwell

Victoria Cromwell is currently Senior Director of Business Development at BARBRI. She is an English qualified solicitor with over 12 years’ experience in practice at Addleshaw Goddard and Linklaters, and as a professional support lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. After private practice, Victoria taught postgraduate law for Kaplan and BPP, and was course designer and subject matter expert for the contract law and business law modules of BARBRI’s QLTS prep course and as Director of UK Programmes lead on the development of BARBRI’s SQE courses. Victoria is co-vice chair of the International Bar Association’s Academic and Professional Development Committee, a member of the SRA’s SQE Reference Group, and sits on the Education and Training Committee of the Law Society of England & Wales.

Lucie Allen

Lucie is an established and energetic leader with over 20 years commercial experience working across a variety of industries and verticals. Lucie spent 7 years at Thomson Reuters prior to joining Barbri in a global role as vice president in the legal segment where she worked closely with global law firm leaders. Lucie has created organizational structures, built teams, defined propositions and developed successful customer account programmes throughout her career to deliver top line growth. She is recognized for her collaborative approach, influence and ability to execute on her strategic vision. Lucie is passionate about diversity and inclusion advancement in the workplace as well as supporting people with their personal development and career goals to achieve their potential. Lucie also sits on the board for London Skills for Growth and London South East Colleges Group as well as ByFoke, a start-up business in the retail sector.

Mary Bonsor

Mary Bonsor was a property litigator in a top city firm before starting Flex Legal in August 2016. Flex is an online platform which connects pre-vetted lawyers and law students to law firms and general counsel for a flexible, on demand service. Flex has over 5,000 candidates on its platform and over 250 clients including magic circle firms, FTSE 250 companies and SMEs. In 2020 Mary was recognised as one of Management Today's 35 Women under 35. Mary is passionate about the future education of the profession and how tomorrow's lawyers will qualify. In 2021, Mary launched Flex Trainee which offers junior talent from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to qualify via the SQE route. Mary sees the SQE offering a huge opportunity to law students to get relevant work experience during their studies and is also very interested in how law firms can retain and attract the future generation.
