A change at the Helm of HELP International, Benidorm

New president Bill_2.JPG

On the 6th February 2014, our president, Jan Elders, retired from office after serving as President for 6 years. Jan will be missed, as she has worked tirelessly to maintain Help International Benidorm to a very high standard. We wish Jan well, and look forward to her continuing support as a volunteer. Jan was presented with a gift of Swarovski crystal, as a token of our thanks.

Bill Steele has been voted in as the new President. We wish Bill well, and look forward to his support for the members, and especially the committee members, who all work so very hard with their various roles.

AGM 2014.JPG

HELP International Benidorm held its AGM on 6th February with 87 members attending, a marvellous number. This has been my last year as HELP President, and as usual it has been very busy. Many visits have been made to people in the Villajoyosa Hospital, and in their own homes. We have enjoyed numerous coffee mornings, lunches and days out. Translation and equipment loan help has been given to many of our members, and the local community...........

Improve your Spanish

Geoff, our treasurer, heads a group of people who help to improve the English of our Spanish friends, who in turn help us with our Spanish. Recently, the Spanish have greatly outnumbered the English and so we are looking for more volunteers to come and join us. Please contact us for more information. We also hope soon to start visiting the L'Almadrava school in Benidorm to help the bright young things there with their English. If you are interested in coming along, please contact Jan (President) or Geoff.

MABS Charity Shop raising funds for Cancer research and care

MABS are opening a Charity Shop, hopefully at the beginning of November. Volunteers are required to man the shop on Mondays, Thursday and Fridays. So if you have some time to spare, please contact us and we can put you in touch with the organiser.

Donations, Donations, Donations!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of lovely people in various businesses in Benidorm have been working hard over these last few months to raise money for our work and good causes. Maddies Bar have raised over 360 euros, and Foleys Bar another nearly 70 euros. And our own fundraising raffle this time raised over 75 euros! A donation was 50 euros received as a result of equipment hire, and at the Relleu BBQ venture an amazing 700 + euros were raised. Keep it coming!
