The Christmas Party was held in the Social Centre, La Nucia, on the 12th of December & was attended by about 60 members. There was plenty of food, supplied by members, in fact there was a little left over! The Mayor of La Nucia came to give us Christmas Greetings & wish us well. Our thanks to him for letting us have the facilities. We were entertained by Kenny B, who sang many songs in the Frank Sinatra style & was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

"The Fun Day". December 6th 2008.

Fun Day 2008 1

The Fun Day was held at De Ja Vue 2, La Cala, on the 6th of December. Not all the expected stalls arrived but it was sunny, if not particularly warm. Unfortunately, there were not very many people around but the day was enjoyed by all those who participated. Between the morning events & the evening Karaoke 800€ was raised, after expenses. Our grateful thanks go to all the staff of the restaurant.

The Beach Party, La Cala Finestrat. July 1st 2008.

Beach Party 2008

A BIG thank you to all of those who attended our beach party. There was a good turnout of over 35 Help members. Food and drink was plentiful and provided by all of us. The weather was beautiful and some of us even had a swim in the sea. A raffle raised 69 euros for Help funds.

Caroline, our Visits Co-Ordinator, was presented with her leaving card and present from Help members. Caroline will be returning to England at the end of August.

The first photo shows a few of our ladies enjoying the buffet. The second, June modelling her trendy sunhat!

Not all members are in business, just women that mean business. The WIBC also raise funds for victims of domestic violence. They constantly highlight this problem and Spain now has a national 24 hour helpline for advice and support. The number is 016 and there are operators who speak in 6 different languages, English being one.

Emaus Children’s home in Relleau. March 11 2008

Emaus 1

We continue to sponsor the Emaus Children’s home in Relleau. We are now into our second year and it is still a joy to bring so much pleasure to the children’s lives. On the 11th of March we visited the eleven children and brought Easter eggs for each child. The staff at the home had also requested new summer bedding for the children and we also came laden with a dozen new bed sets and pillows!. The children recognize us and trust us and we are continually covered in kisses and lots of hugs, it really is a joy to visit. The staff are most welcoming and coffee and cake is always provided.
