Visit from Kiera, 16th June 2011

Kiera

Kiera is a little girl who lives here, with her family in La Cala and has cerebal palsy and is quadraplegic. She and her family raised money to be able to travel to America last year so that Kiera could receive much needed therapy . This year Kiera can have this therapy here in Spain near Barcelona, and it gave us a great deal of pleasure to give a donation to assist their fund raising. We had the pleasure of meeting Kiera, at our weekly meeting on 16th June.

A great time was had by all at this event on 15th June and we would like to thank all the wonderful people at Ciudad Patricia and our own volunteers for all their hard work to make this coffee morning such a success. And special thanks go to John Hobbs who gave up his time to entertain us royally with his singing and guitar. More than €300 was raised from refreshments and the raffle so well done all!

Yet another visit from our young friends from Valencia for a bit of English practise, 26th May 2011

English Students

Today we have had a great time with our young Spanish students from Valencia who just love to come and chat to us to practise their English. Afterwards the go off for a 'Big Mac' and enjoy the lovely Benidorm beach. They are a breath of fresh air and always enjoy themselves,(as do we) most especially our rather dubious English jokes! Lots of pictures to follow!

Easter Bonnet Parade

All the competitors

We had a wonderful time at Monroe's, Benidorm on Easter Sunday, and here are a few of the lovely Easter Bonnets that our members produced.

Hospital visiting service

Don't forget, we now have an established hospital visiting service twice weekly at Hospital Marina Baixa, Villajoyosa. Our aim is to give much needed moral support for English speaking patients and to liase with Social Services there.

Volunteers and Interpreters

Just to remind you, we are always looking for Volunteers and Interpreters to help us keep our valuable services available. So if there is anyone out there that thinks they have something to give in translating skills or just some of their time to visit others less fortunate, please contact our President on 607 387 040. The work is voluntary, but expenses are paid.

Recent Donations

Donation to Help

We have recently received two major donations - one from the Autocaravana Club, Benidorm who kindly donated €200 and the other from a grateful person from the UK for all the assistance we gave her and her partner whilst on holiday in Benidorm last year. Mavis broke her leg and was in VJ hospital for some time where we visited and helped where we could, plus taking her to the airport to go home after being discharged. She and Steve did fundraising in the UK and presented us with a cheque for 350 pounds.
